Materials

  • Crochet Hook: G-7 (4.5mm) (or size to obtain gauge)
  • 2 (2, 2, 3) skeins Red Heart Luster Sheen
  • Yarn Needle
  • Coordinating Sewing Thread (used to stabilize stitches)
  • Ruler or Measuring Tape

Gauge

17 sts for 18 rows in stitch pattern = 4″ square

Instructions are written for size Extra Small (up to 28″ chest), with Small (up to 32″ chest), Medium (up to 36″ chest) and Large (up to 40″ chest) written in parentheses.

Instructions

Back

Ch 65 (75, 83, 93), sk first ch, *[sc, dc] across, turn, ch 1, rep from * until piece measures 9.5 (10, 10.5, 11)”, fasten off–64 (74, 82, 92) sts.

Count 4 (6, 6, 8) sts across, join yarn with sl st, ch 1, work in established pattern to last 4 (6, 6, 8) sts, turn leaving rem sts unworked–56 (62, 70, 76) sts.

Armhole Decreasing: *Sk first st, sl st in next st, ch 1, [sc, dc] across in established pattern to last 2 sts, turn leaving rem sts unworked–52 (58, 66, 72) sts.

Repeat Armhole Decreasing 4 (4, 5, 6) times more–36 (42, 46, 48) sts on final decreasing row.

Work straight on 36 (42, 46, 48) sts until armhole measures 2.5 (3, 3.5, 4)” high.

Ch 1, work across 4 (4, 4, 4) sts in established pattern, leaving rem sts unworked, fasten off. From opposite side, count across 4 (4, 4, 4) sts, join yarn with sl st, ch 1, work across 4 (4, 4, 4) sts in established pattern, fasten off.

Front

Work same as for Back until armhole measures 2 (2.5, 3, 3.5)” high.

Ch 1, work across 8 (8, 8, 8) sts in established pattern, turn leaving rem sts unworked. Ch 1, sk first st, sl st in next st, work across rem sts in established pattern, turn. Ch 1, work across 4 (4, 4, 4) sts in established pattern, fasten off.

From opposite side count across 8 (8, 8, 8) sts, join yarn with sl st, ch 1, work across 8 (8, 8, 8) sts in established pattern, turn. Ch 1, work in established pattern across 6 (6, 6, 6) sts only, turn leaving rem sts unworked. Ch 1, sk first st, sl st in next st, work across rem 4 (4, 4, 4) sts in established pattern, fasten off.

Seaming

With yarn needle, seam sides.

Armhole Finishing

Holding sewing thread and Luster Sheen together as one, join with sl st at top of Armhole at either front or back, ch 1, sc evenly around entire Armhole, ch 40 (42, 44, 46), being careful not to twist chain length, sl st to first sc. Ch 1, sc in each sc around and in each ch, sl st to first sc, fasten off. Rep for opposite Armhole.

Neckline Finishing

Holding sewing thread and Luster Sheen together as one, join with sl st at top of Neckline. Ch 1, sc evenly around Neckline and in each unworked ch lp across chain length of shoulders, sl st to first sc, fasten off.

Hem

Join yarn with sl st to either side seam at bottom of garment, ch 1, sc evenly around, sl st to first sc, fasten off.

Weave in all ends securely.
