Tunisian simple stitch (tss): insert hook from side-to-side under front vertical bar, always keeping hook to front of work, yo, draw lp through.
Tunisian bobble stitch (tbs): yo, insert into st as for tss, yo, draw lp through, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook into same st as for tss, yo, draw lp through, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] twice.
Tunisian reverse stitch (trs): With hook behind work, insert hook from side-to-side under back vertical bar, always keeping hook to back of work, yo, draw lp through.
Single crochet 2 together (sc2tog): insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw lp through, insert hook in next st, yo, draw lp through, yo, draw through 3 lps on hook.

Unless instructed otherwise, close all rows as follows: Ch 1, [yo, draw through 2 lps] across.
To decrease in Tunisian crochet, working in sts indicated, insert hook under 2 lps at the same time prior to drawing lp through.
Unless otherwise indicated, always sk the first vertical bar of a Tunisian crochet row. The last lp on the hook from closing the prior row counts as the first st of the new row.
Row 1: With afghan hook and A, ch 34, draw up lp in 2nd ch from hook, draw up lp in each rem ch across, close normally (see Pattern Notes above)—34 sts.
Row 2: Sk first vertical bar (here and throughout all Tunisian crochet rows), [tss, tbs] across to last st, tss in last st, close—34 sts.
Row 3: Trs across, close—34 sts.
Row 4: [Tbs, tss] across to last st, tss in last st, close—34 sts.
Row 5: Rep row 3.
Rows 6-24: Rep rows 2-5, ending with a row 4.
Row 25: Inserting hook into sts as for trs throughout, sl st across, changing to B on final sl st, remove afghan hook from lp, fasten off A.
Row 26: With regular hook and B, ch 1, working along sides of rows, unused lps of foundation row and opposite side edge only (not working along the top edge of towel), sc evenly, with 3 sc at each lower edge corner, turn.
Row 27 (WS): Ch 1, sc in each sc around with 3 sc in each second sc of 3-sc corner, turn.
Row 28 (RS): Rep row 27, except, at end, turn 90 degrees to beg working along top edge.
Row 29: Ch 1, 38 sc evenly across sides of last 3 rows and top edge, turn.
Row 30: Ch 1, [sk sc, sc in next sc] across, turn—19 sc.
Rows 31-36: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in each sc to last 2 sc, sc2tog, turn. On final row, 7 sc.
Rows 37-51: Ch 1, sc across, turn.
Row 52: Ch 1, sc2tog, ch 3, sk 3, sc2tog, turn.
Row 53: Ch 1, sc, 2 sc in ch-3 sp, sc. Fasten off B.
Attach button adjacent to buttonhole.
