Note for 2008: This pattern is one of the free patterns available on my website which may have been available for as long as a decade. During 2008, I plan on trying to focus on these patterns. Where suitable, I may rework the design using current yarns. Or, I may change the pattern writing style. In the past 10 years, my writing style has changed, so I want to make sure that everything is still workable. In some cases, I may be re-designing some things to provide a better fit. Again, these patterns are old. So, they can no longer be considered something representative of my current work skill and experience. Where I formerly was only able to produce designs for drop shoulders, for instance, some things may be redesigned to my current standards of modified drop shoulders, waist shaping, etc. Whatever time will allow.

Materials

  • Hook size 13
  • Small ball of white tatting/crochet cotton, size 70
  • 250 small clear rocaille beads
  • Beading needle
  • Hemstitched white handkerchief (Try Hanky Blanks)
  • Optional: white embroidery thread, embroidery needle, blue satin bow
Begin by threading the beads onto the crochet cotton.

Repeat from * around, except at corners, work (3 dc, 2 ch) twice, 3 dc. Note: Due to the differences in sizes of hemstitching, it may be necessary for you to skip one or more 1-ch lps in order to accommodate the corners. Slp st in third chain of starting chain.

Rnd 3: Sl st into first 2-ch lp. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc. In next 2-ch lp, work shell. In next sc, work beaded sc. (For a beaded sc, bring bead close to work, insert hook and draw through a loop. Keeping the bead steady, YO and draw through both loops) * Work shell in 2-ch lp of next shell, work beaded sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, except at corners, work a shell in each ch-2 lp. Sl st to third chain of starting chain.

Rnd 4: Sl st on 2 dc and in 2-ch lp. Ch 1, sc in 2-ch lp, ch 2. Skip 3 dc. In space between two shells, work (dc, ch 2, sl st a bead, ch 2, dc) CORNER V-STITCH. * Ch 2, sc in shell of previous row. In sc of previous row, work (dc, ch 1, sl st a bead, ch 1, dc) V-STITCH. Repeat from * around, except at corners, work Corner V-Stitch. Sl st to first sc.
