Technique: Regular Crochet

Aluminum Crochet Hook Set, Sizes D-K

Materials

  • Hook: G
  • Red Heart Baby Sport Pompadour - 2 skeins (6 oz. each) - shown here in Parakeet. This yarn comes in many new bright colors. I've seen brights in red, yellow, purple, blue and a variegated, as well as the softer pastels.
Special Stitches

Decrease Double Crochet (Dec Dc): YO, insert hook in stitch, draw through. YO draw through 2 lps. YO, insert hook in next stitch, draw through. YO draw through 2 lps. YO, draw through all 3 lps on hook.

Notes Please always count the turning ch as one dc. This piece is worked in rounds of dc, joined with a sl st to the beginning turning ch. It is all worked on one side and is not turned. The result is an extra thick, double-sided scarf which is sure to please all ages.

Make two for scarf and one for hat: Wrap yarn around a 5" cardboard piece 50 times. Cut 5" piece of yarn and attach securely to one side of the yarn. Remove from the cardboard, keeping the yarn in its same shape. Cut one side of the yarn circles. Cut another 5" piece of yarn and secure firmly about 3/4" down from the first tie. Trim the ends. Attach to opposite ends of the scarf and to the point of the hat.
