Special Stitches

Small Popcorn: Work 2 dc in same stitch, remove hook from last dc and insert it in the top of the first dc, draw through lp made by last dc.

Square (make 48):

Rnd 1: Ch 5, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 1, 3 dc in ring, ch 1, 4 dc in ring, ch 1, 3 dc in ring, ch 1, sl st to third ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each of next 3 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 3, sk ch-1 sp, [Small Popcorn (see Special Stitches above) in next dc, ch 1] 3 times, Small Popcorn in next dc, ch 3, sk ch-1 sp, 2 dc in each of next 3 dc, sk ch 1 sp, ch 3, sl st to first sc.

Joining With tapestry needle, and right sides facing, join squares by whipstitching in the back lps only until there are 8 rows of 6 squares, ensuring that the angels are all facing the same direction.

Border Rnd 1: Join with sl st to any ch-3 sp of Corner, ch 3, [2 dc, ch 3, 3dc] in ch-3 sp, * dc in each dc, skipping each seam between the squares, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] in Corner (Corner made), rep from * around, sl st to third ch of beg ch-3 and across to ch-3 sp.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 3 sc in corner (Corner made), * sc in each dc, work Corner in ch-3 sp, rep from * around, sl st to first sc, fasten off.
