What's New at CrochetKim.com by Kim Guzman Welcome! This newsletter has certainly been a long time coming! As many of you know, I have a new baby. He is a wonderful baby boy and a joy to be around! You can see pictures of him in the About Me section of my website. In the past month, I have successfully sold six new designs to a publisher! As you might have guessed, most of these are baby things. So, please be on the lookout for these new publications! I will post information about them in my Portfolio as soon as I hear something. I have changed all the free patterns pages on my website. I have taken off a lot of excess information, so when you print the pages, it won't take up so much room. I have added three new patterns to my website:
The Drop Stitch Shawl is perfect for a cool evening out and would look great over a prom dress. It is quick and easy, made with worsted weight yarn. The Knit Cotton Top is a knit pattern, rather than crochet. I can knit, but prefer only the knit and purl stitches. If you are a beginning knitter and want to try a design using only these stitches, you will love this top. It is an A-shape because of the one top button and is very slimming. The Ocean Camisole is perfect for summer! It's quick and easy as well, using very simple crochet stitches and very little shaping.
Crochet Pattern Designing Opportunity by Kim Guzman While online, I noticed that Accord Publishing is accepting design submissions for the 2007 Crochet Calendar. As stated on the website, here, there is no monetary compensation. But, the designers will receive one of the calendars and the publicity of a published design. Crochet Tools by Kim Guzman
Surfin' the 'net by Kim Guzman While browsing the internet, I have found some lovely websites and I wanted to share them with you. First, I discovered a website owned by designer, Noreen Crone-Findlay. Noreen has some absolutely extraordinary designs. She is a professional designer and puppeteer with, clearly, a fantastic creative imagination! Here are just a few of the adorable items she has available:
Another website I discovered is owned by Josi Hannon Madera. Looking for contemporary crochet clothing designs? This *is* the place. By reading several crochet "blogs", I have found that the blue skirt is extremely popular among college crocheters! Yes, there are college-age crocheters! I was delighted to find them on the internet, displaying the items they had completed. But, I digress. Back to Josi's fantastic designs...
Now, this website has nothing at all to do with crochet, but it was pretty incredible and has to be seen to be believed! This company will take your old socks (the goofier the better) and turn them into wonderful, delightful creatures! Oh, they really are fantastic and I really enjoyed my visit! Murphy's Original Stupid Creatures Although this website is the last in my newsletter, it is certainly not the least wonderful! It is BEADS! While staying with my grandmother, I discovered she had a catalog with the most fantastic selection of beads I had ever seen! Now, I know you will want to visit this site and check them out because beads go with crochet as cake goes with birthdays! The site is Fire Mountain Gems. While visiting, I noticed that they have a virtual feature where you can design your own jewelry online!
