Cro-Hooking, Cro-Knitting, Double Hook Crochet and the newer, "Crochet on the Double" all describe the technique of crocheting with a long-ish double-ended crochet hook. The technique has been around for over 96 years (I have a 1904 manual describing it) and has recently been revived in ways that have never been seen before.
The technique produces a soft, pliable fabric, which feels more like a knitted fabric. And, quite unique is the fact that the fabric is (in most cases) completely reversible! It is predominantly one color on one side and another color on the other side.
For online sources of the special hooks and patterns, try Annie's Attic, Crochet! magazine and American School of Needlework. For some wonderful cro-hook lessons, including pictures, try Knitted Threads.
You can find online patterns by visiting my index of regular Tunisian and Cro-Hook patterns here.
